Doeren Mayhew is seeking a Senior Manager to work in our Business Advisory Group headquartered in Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate would have 3 plus years of public accounting experience and at least 6 years total experience in public accounting and/or industry. Responsibilities:

  • Manage engagement team members to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and be a resource for team members.
  • Provide guidance/mentorship to associates and assist them in developing technical skills.
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain client relationships and ensure client needs are being met.
  • Advise and support the preparation of financial reports including financial statements, cash-flow statements, budgets, projections, and dashboard reports.
  • Analyze and reconcile financial accounts, support general ledger management, provide cash-flow analysis and report on budget variances.
  • Assist clients in the development of accounting best practices, monthly closing procedures and checklists
  • Provide QuickBooks and various other accounting software support and training to clients in a variety of industries.
  • Participate in special projects such as strategic planning, exit planning, systems optimization, organizational design, etc.
  • Utilize analytical and decision-making skills to solve complex technical issues.
  • Seek opportunities to participate in practice development to build network of referral sources.
  • Present new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks in order to achieve firm and departmental goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA License required
  • 3+ years of public accounting experience
  • 6+ years total accounting experience – can be public or industry or combination
  • Proficient in QuickBooks, other accounting software, and MS Excel and good at learning new software
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/clients and deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Ability to take initiative
